The best user experience lets you get things done with little to no effort. Today's products are more connected and informed, allowing a mere suggestion to take the place of several interaction steps. This simplicity drives delight. While expectations evolve, our methods are deeply rooted in decades-old methodologies of HCI.

Understanding users Do we have time for discovery? Too often designers are pushed to deliver high-fidelity designs within days of starting an assignment. Whether we have the luxury to invest in first-diamond research, it is our responsibility to discover, identify, and document our understanding of the user.
Agile processes depend on team alignment around user stories. By discovering pain points and desires, we prioritize the design effort to deliver a greater value to users in a shorter amount of time. |
Keep your work organized and share your progress daily. This mantra not only keeps you focused on the right tasks, but allows others to lift you up when needed. Effective agile teams work this way. I'm obsessed with organization. Coworkers have often heard me say that life should come in neat little boxes, each one with a brightly-colored bow. As designers we translate conceptual into visual, wether facilitating a conversation or giving shape to a product. We sort features, needs, steps, interaction spaces, or data; then organize and visualize those elements in a way that delivers value.
